“We don’t do tips, we do the whole iceberg”
Cybermindz founder, Peter Coroneos
The protocol we use develops the ability to be comfortable with uncertainty. We teach cyber warriors how to sit with factors outside their control and remain clear, calm and connected with what the iRest pioneer, Dr Richard Miller calls their ‘inner locus of control’.
Over time, typically around 8 weeks of regular application, neuroplastic changes (rewiring and rebuilding) occur in the brain to support this as a new default state.
The protocol also teaches us how to switch off at will and to master our relationship with previously challenging emotional states.
Don’t Ask Us for Tips
Using an app, going for a walk, taking a vacation, getting off your device... there are a myriad of sources of well meaning advice. And they each have their place.
And while short term ’fixes’ may provide symptomatic relief, they don’t fix burnout. This is because they will not typically reach deep enough to give safe access to, and enable a resolution of factors that are governing your response to life —and in particular, how you are likely to respond in a crisis situation.
How often have you woken up in the night with mind racing, a disturbing dream perhaps or a feeling of anxiety that appears to arise out of nowhere?
These may be indications of unprocessed emotions breaking out of the subconscious mind into conscious awareness, demanding to be heard.
With iRest, we treat these as messengers. Nothing to resist, fix or change.
Working with emotions, beliefs sensations, memories from a deep state of rest gives you an entirely different way of approaching them.
From the safety of a highly detached state, we teach you how to acknowledge what wants to be heard. To act on it, if need be. But no longer to be defined or controlled by it.
Incident responders gain a new sense of control amid the chaos. SOC teams can function without being derailed by the fear of missing something important. Best of all, they become better at their jobs, while retaining a newfound sense of calm. Whatever your role in cybersecurity—indeed, whatever your role—the efficacy of what we bring is unparalleled. The extensive military application tells us that.
But this change only comes about with practice. You can change your brain, and with it your entire way of responding to life.
The base of the iceberg becomes a place of security and psychological safety.
This is how we build resilience.
